Just In! Marcoleta At Defensor, Binweltahan Si Hontiveros: "Sinisiraan mo ang gobyerno para pagtakpan si Aquino!"

Matatandaan na noong nasa kasagsagan ang Pilipinas sa pagdami ng kaso ng C0VID-19 pand3mic sa bansa ay binweltahan ni Senator. Risa Hontiveros ang pamahalaan dahil sa paggastos umano ng administrasyon ng P18-B sa pagbili ng overpriced personal protective equipment (PPE) sa China. 

Samantala, kaagad naman nilinaw ng Department of Budget and Management na false claims lamang ang pinagsasabi ni Hontiveros. Ayon sa DBP, mula noong April hanggang May 15, 2020, ang pinakamababang price offers ng PPE sa Department of Health (DOH) ay mula sa China-based suppliers. 

P1,773.51 lamang ang price offers ng China sa DOH samantalang P2,873 naman ang sa ating bansa. Noong mga panahon na iyon, ang budget lamang ng DOH para sa isang PPE ay nagkakahalaga ng P2,000.

Ayon naman sa beteranong mamamahayag na si Bobi Tiglao, nakatipid pa nga ang gobyerno ng P800-M sa mga PPE. Bwelta pa niya sa kaniyang social media post na dapat ang ma-ban sa social media at mainstream media ay walang iba kundi si Hontiveros dahil sa pagpapalaganap umano nito ng mga pekeng balita. 

Sa kabila nito, hindi pa din nagpapatinag si Hontiveros. Ibinahagi pa ng Senadora sa kaniyang Twitter account ang diumano'y 11 contracts ng overpriced PPE na binili ng DBM mula Abril hanggang Mayo. 

Dahil dito, hindi naman na napigilan magsalita nina Representative Rodante Marcoleta at Representative Mike Defensor laban sa mga pahayag ni Hontiveros.

Pahayag ni Marcoleta, 

"Sen. Hontiveros bristles at crit1cisms for not presenting hard evidence to back her claims. However, what she presented to media on Monday only confirms what we've known all along: She has no evidence and she can't prove a baseless claim of overpricing because there's none." 

Dagdag pa niya, 

"None of these documents show, much less prove, that the PPEs purchased by DBM were overpriced. Something can only be deemed 'overpriced' if it can be shown that other companies, Filipinos or otherwise, supplied PPE sets to government with the same specifications, quality, and stock availability at lower prices."

Pagpapatuloy pa ni Marcoleta, 

"Hontiveros should have presented a comparative matrix and receipts or other documents showing the claimed price disparity... Without a clear price comparison, allegations of overpricing are simply figments of her imagination. 

"In the case of PPEs bought during the Aquino administration at P3,500 per set, there was very clear evidence of overpricing when compared to the average P1,700 per PPE set bought by the current DBM."

Samantala, sinabi naman ni Defensor na ang mga pahayag ni Hontiveros ay "baseless" lamang at gumagamit lamang siya ng "smokescreen" para itago ang mga katiwalian na naganap sa administrasyon ng dating Pangulong Benigno Aquino III. 

Ayon kay Defensor, ang DOH umano sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Aquino ay bumili ng PPEs mula sa Rebmann, Inc. na nagkakahalaga ng P3,500 sa isang set lamang noong Setyembre 2015 at bumili pa ng eight-piece PPE set na nagkakahalaga ng P3,684.

Ani Defensor, 

"Claims of overpricing are untrue. At that time of DBM's questioned purchases between March and May this year, the Philippines and the whole world were in panic mode. Each country was scrambling for PPEs and facemasks and were fighting over limited supply. Even first world countries like the United States and Great Britain didn't have enough protective gear for their frontliners."
