Noong Setyembre 24, Huwebes, inilutang ni Pampanga Congressman Mikey Arroyo sa budget hearing ng Commission on Election (COMELEC) ang ideya na huwag munang magsagawa ng eleksyon sa darating na Mayor 2022 dahil madami umano sa ating mga kababayan ang natatak0t bumoto dahil sa kr1sis na dulot ng C0VID-19 pand3mic.

Saad ni Congressman Arroyo,

"Because I've been hearing in my district, the businessmen, the old people, they're saying maybe they would not just vote because they're scared to vote during that day. That's just food for thought Mr. Chair. The COMELEC may choose to answer that or not."

Dagdag pa niya,

"I've been doing my share of reading about this pand3mic and it seems that, assuming for the sake of argument that nothing goes wrong, the earliest that the vaccine will be available in our country for everybody, maybe September or October 2021."

Samantala, kaagad naman pinatutsadahan ng secretary general ng BAYAN at long-time activist na si Renato Reyes Jr. ang naging mungkahi na ito ni Arroyo patungkol sa 2022 elections.

Ayon kay Reyes, hindi niya maintindihan ang sinabi ni Arroyo dahil ngayon pa nga lang daw ay marami nang mga tao ang nais matanggap si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa kaniyang posisyon bilang Presidente ng bansa. Dagdag pa niya, hindi na din umano makapaghintay ang mga tao na mapalitan ito dahil sa palpak umanong pamumuno ni Duterte sa bansa.

Patutsada ni Reyes,

"Ang pagpapaliban ng eleksyon ay daan tungo sa diktadura. Walang ibang makikinabang dito kundi ang mga nasa poder. Ayaw na nga ng mga tao sa rehimeng Duterte, ngayon pa lang ay gusto nang palitan - lalong hindi papayag ang tao na tumagal sila sa pwesto lagpas sa kanilang termino. Di na makapaghintay ang tao na mabago at mapatalsik ang mga palpak na namumuno ngayon. Tutol sila sa "No-El" at term extension."

Sa kaniyang karagdagang pahayag, sinabi din ni Reyes ang plano ng kanilang grupo na mapaalis na si Duterte sa kaniyang pwesto sa pagka-Pangulo kahit pa man wala pang elesyon.

Boladas ni Reyes,

"Gusto na nga namin siya paalisin kahit wala pang eleksyon. Kayo naman gusto niyo siyang patagalin pa sa pwesto kahit na tapos na ang termino. NO. Stop using the pand3mic as pretext for dictat0rship."
