Orion Perez, an active leader in Philippine civil society, also founding CoRRect Movement, an internet-based organization lobbying for constitutional reform in the Philippines, lambasted Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan through a Facebook post regarding the Senator’s Facebook post on Thursday, urging people to fight for democracy as he listed five scenarios once Charter Change “Cha-Cha” comes into effect. 

“Heto ang iilan sa mga bulong-bulungan sa Kongreso ng mga posibleng amendments tungkol sa minumungkahi na Charter change (Here are some of the rumors in the Congress about the possible amendments on the Charter Change they are suggesting):

1. May 10 taon na transition period sa federalism na wala munang eleksyon at itutulak ang term extension para sa mga nakaupo (There is a 10-year transition period on federalism with no election and they will push the term extension for those with positions) 

2. Hindi lang si PRRD ang may term extension, lahat ng kongresista at mga senador term extension din kaya wala ng eleksyon, wala ng gastos ang mga pulitiko, wala ng bababa sa pwesto (PPRD is not the only one with term extension, also the congress and senators are included. Since there will be no election, politicians won’t spend on their campaign) 

3. At dahil wala ng eleksyon, appointed na muna ang lahat ng mga lokal na opisyal. (Since there is no election, all local officials will be appointed)

4. Bibigyan ng kapangyarihan ang Pangulo na gumawa ng mga batas tulad ng Amendment no. 6 nung panahon ni Marcos habang hindi pa nabubuo ang Federal government. (The President will be given the power to make law like the Amendment no. 6 during the Marcos administration, until the Federal Government has been completed) 

5. Tatanggalin na ang restrictions sa exploitation ng dayuhan ng natural resources natin para wala ng hadlang na pumasok ang China at buhusan ng bilyon na pautang at pagnegsyo sa ating mag lupain at karagatan. Heto ba ay ZTE NBN, Northrail scandals part 2? (Restrictions on foreign exploitation of our natural resources will be removed so that there will be no barrier for China to get into our country and give billions of loans and businesses on our lands and seas. Is this the ZTE NBM, Northrail scandals part 2?) 

Ipagtanggol ang demokrasya! (Protect the democracy!)” Pangilinan said.

“Sigaw ng taumbayan, trabaho, murang pagkain at dagdag na kita hindi Chacha! (The filipinos clamour for job, cheap food and increase in income, not ChaCha)” he further said. 

Perez explained the reason why a Constitutional Reform is needed, because of the previous administration’s Saligang Batas ng 1987 failure, which was the hindrance for providing enough jobs to ordinary filipinos and also why the government system was useless. 

“Palpak ang 1987 Constitution kaya kailangan siyang ayusin. Kaya kailangan ng Constitutional Reform. (The 1987 Constitution is not working, that’s why we need Constitutional Reform to fix it)” Perez said.

“Ang bansang may maraming mahihirap at walang trabaho dahil sa palpak na Saligang Batas ay kailangan ng Constitutional Reform para gumanda ang buhay ng mga mamamayan...(There are many poor and jobless filipinos in the country because of the failed Philippine Constitution. That’s why we need Constitutional Reform to make their lives better)
