Kung si House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco ay dumidepensa sa mga miyembro ng Makabayan Bloc, iba ang naging paninindigan ni Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte laban sa mga makakaliwang kongresista. Noong 2018 ay pinatutsadahan ng alkalde ang mga nasabing mambabatas.
Ayon kay Mayor Sara, dapat ay sipain sa kongreso ang mga Makabayan Bloc dahil ginagawa lang daw gatasan ang partylist system.
"Congress should expel the members of the Makabayan bloc. The party-list system is the milking cow of terrorists.
These militant groups, who masquerade as pro-people, only want to sow hostility and chaos, especially to those who reject them and the terrorist groups they support the new Peoples Army, the national democratic front of the Philippines and the communist party of the Philippines," banat ni Mayor Sara noong 2018.
Sinabi ito ni Mayor Sara upang supalpalin ang kasinungalingan ikinakalat ng ACT Teachers Davao na ang kanyang lungsod lang daw ang hindi nagbibigay ng allowances sa mga guro.
"ACT Teachers Davao, hindi lang kayo terrorista at sympathizer ng mga terrorista, you are also LIARS. We have copies of the budget, pictures of distribution and the liquidation with all signatures.
Pahirapan pa nga magpa approve ng grant ninyo at kami pa ang nasa alanganin and you have the temerity to lie. Kung puwede lang sana kayo iexpel outside of Davao City.
DepEd should dismiss terrorists from their ranks, how ironic for government to pay public money to people who work against the government," dagdag pa ni Mayor Sara.
